| 1) Only Two-Half Sane Democrats Left in the Entire House of Representatives The Democratic Party hit a new all-time low when all but two of 221 D’s voted to pass Nancy Pelosi’s fiscal atrocity on Saturday. Congrats to House minority leader Kevin McCarthy for holding all 214 Republicans against this $2 billion non-relief bill. Biden is turning out to be a true unifier – for the GOP. So there was some bipartisanship… it was the vote AGAINST the bill. Two Democrats Kurt Schrader and Jared Golden showed real political courage and voted “no,” as they did last December to the sixth “stimulus” bill (this is the 7th).   https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/politics/maine-politics/maine-rep-jared-golden-one-of-two-democrats-to-vote-against-19-trillion-covid-19-relief-bill/97-4294d005-c9e1-418e-af4e-e0e183e6bdb5 Golden emphasized the obvious point that Congress has already authorized $4 trillion in COVID-19 relief, which should be a practical limit: “I won’t support trillions more in funding that is poorly targeted or in many cases not necessary.” He said spending at these nose-bleed levels puts programs like Medicare at risk. ”Politically, no doubt, the easiest choice would have been to just vote ‘yes.’ But I came here to do what I thought was right.” Good for him. Now we find out whether there is a single Democrat in the entire US with a fiscal conscience. We think the sad answer is no, but we pray for the future of the country that we are wrong. The chart below shows that the $6.1 trillion Democrats want to spend this year alone will eclipse the cost of every war America has fought since our founding.  |
