It’s been fascinating watching the Biden administration twist like a pretzel to explain why the Trump travel restrictions from China and certain African countries at the start of the Covid crisis in 2020 were denounced by the left, including then-presidential candidate Joe Biden as “racist,” but not the same ban that Biden himself ordered last week.
When poor Jen Psaki was queried about this contradiction during a White House press conference yesterday by Fox News correspondent Peter Doocey, she dutifully recited the White House taking points that Biden had been merely attacking the “racist language” Trump was using, not the policy itself.
Nice try. But no. You can read the original Biden tweet below. Biden basically attacked the ban itself as a bigoted Trump policy to keep “brown and black-skinned immigrants from coming here.”
Trump further diminished the U.S. in the eyes of the world by expanding his travel ban. This new “African Ban,” is designed to make it harder for black and brown people to immigrate to the United States. It’s a disgrace, and we cannot let him succeed. https://t.co/oePD5eSAWY
