Seven Of 10 Americans Want To Put COVID Behind Usd

The headline on the release of the latest Monmouth University Poll says it all:

“Americans still concerned about virus, but lose faith in federal measures.”

Fully 7 in 10 Americans (70%) agree with the sentiment that “it’s time we accept that Covid is here to stay and we just need to get on with our lives” – including 78% of those who report having gotten Covid and 65% of those who say they have not been infected.

There are still big partisan differences on whether it’s indeed time to move on — 89 percent of Republicans agree along with 71 percent of independents. But less than half of Democrats are on board.

One reason for the fear subsiding: 40% of respondents say they’ve already been infected. Only 43 percent of respondents support requiring a vaccination in order to work, down from 53 percent just last September.

Only 43 percent of people now approve of Biden’s handling of the pandemic.

By contrast, a full 54 percent have confidence in the job their state governors – who have mostly been lifting lockdowns and opposing mandates – are doing.
