The Biden admin promised to build 500,000 EV charging stations at a taxpayer cost of $7.5 billion. At last count, they had built … 55! They were off by 99.99%. And remember it was Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg who ran that program. (He’s on the shortlist for the Democratic presidential nomination for 2028).
Good news: Trump officially paused the program this month.
Trump is also removing EVs from the government’s fleet and preparing to sell them. Remember all the $1 million electric school buses that malfunctioned?
We’ve always argued the worst thing that ever happened to the EV industry was the government showering it with subsidies.
Here’s to a new beginning for the industry that will now have to cater to car buyers, not politicians.
Way to lead by example, Mr. President.
