Trump is trying to downsize the federal workforce, as any money-losing business would do to cut costs. This has got Democrats indignant that their voters may have to get a private-sector job. Egads!
But the chart below shows why this makes sense. In Trump’s first four years, an average of 8% of the jobs created were in government. Under Biden, that share doubled to 16% on average, and much higher in his last two years.
Time for a course correction.
