Our coalition for school choice with our friends at ALEC and many others has helped produce an amazing string of education choice programs across the country. In just the last three years, 17 states have adopted universal or near-universal private school scholarship programs. But there are many Democratic strongholds left out – at least until now.

Now, Trump is giving choice a bigger boost. The Big Beautiful Bill creates a new tax credit (up to 10% of AGI) for charitable contributions to tax-exempt organizations that provide scholarships to elementary and secondary school students. The program is capped at $5 billion per year for four years.

We congratulate Rep. Adrian Smith of Nebraska, the lead sponsor of this idea, and Chairman Jason Smith of Missouri for including this program in the bill.
