Soft-On-Crime Newsom

We’re keeping an eye on all the potential presidential candidates for 2028.

Here’s the latest with California Governor Hair Gel.

Newsom says he wants to reverse the state’s rising crime rate.  He’s fighting crime as well as forest fires.

Proposition 36 – an anti-crime measure that increases penalties for repeated theft and narcotics offenses, and requires treatment for recidivist criminals – passed last November with 68% of the vote.

Newsom strongly opposed it.

When Newsom sent the legislature his $322 billion state budget, there wasn’t a penny allocated for Prop 36. Nada. Newsom sniffed that the funding could come from “supervisors in the counties that promoted it.”

Last week, just before it adjourned, the shamed legislators finally coughed up $110 million in one-time annual funding. But key district attorneys say they really need almost three times as much.
