Senate Democrats are blocking the SAVE Act because they claim it has too many moving parts and its proof of citizenship requirement is “voter suppression.” Still, Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer insisted last week that “our objection as Democrats is not to a photo ID.”

So last Friday, GOP Senator Jon Husted, a former Ohio Secretary of State, moved to pass only the voter ID part of the SAVE America Act.

Democratic Senator Jeff Markley of Oregon objected.

Majority Leader John Thune explained:

Leader Schumer answered a question and said, ‘Well, we’re not really opposed to photo ID.’

That was quickly dispelled when we had an opportunity … to respond to a proposal put forward by the senator from Ohio, Senator Husted, that would have passed essentially photo ID only, limited it to that one issue.

And the Democrats not only blocked it – they not only blocked it – but their counterproposal was a piece of legislation that would actually ban, specifically ban, photo ID nationwide.

Why is the Left against any kind of measure to ensure election integrity? Is it possible they privately know more about what voting irregularities routinely occur in Democratic strongholds in Blue States than they are willing to admit?
