We were disturbed to see this recent headline:
Appliance manufacturer, Whirlpool, recently announced it will both meet “greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets for 2030” and set a new long-term net-zero “milestone for 2050.”
In their defense, the company is under the gun from The Left and regulators who believe dishwashers and air conditioners are destroying the planet. Nonetheless, the U.S. still gets almost 60% of our electric power from gas and coal. It’s mystifying that a company that makes home appliances would endorse a net-zero fossil fuels policy that cripples our most reliable source of electricity?
Surely these Whirlpool execs don’t really believe hundreds of millions of household appliances are going to operate on windmills?
Ironically, the Whirlpool announcement comes from their office of “corporate responsibility.”
But it’s the height of corporate irresponsibility for a company to endorse public policies that would wipe out their own industry.
