It’s hard to believe that on the 250th birthday of our country we still have political gerrymandering when in about five minutes, computers could draw optimal maps that are consolidated and contiguous and divorced from politics. (Iowa does this.)
Democrats say Republicans started the current redistricting war in Texas. Republicans say Democrats started the political arms race in New York.
Regardless of who’s right, we know that Democrats play this game better than Republicans.
This chart shows Democrats are always better at politics than Republicans. The Ds are likely to pick up a net 5 seats due to redrawing maps. (This doesn’t count the 4 seats they gained in the 2024 New York redraw.)
