UP Versus Jane Fonda

The just-released study from our partner organization Unleash Prosperity Now, calls out the absurdity of antitrust objections to the $100 billion Warner Bros and Paramount merger.  In this day and age there are tens of millions of people distributing entertainment every day for free over the internet and social media platforms.  All you need is a smart phone with a camera and a social media account.

If anything, the merger is a way to potentially save Hollywood studios from extinction.

That reality didn’t stop 12 state AGs from filing suit this week to stop the merger and the fading Hollywood unions from taking to the streets in protest over their own demise.

But if there was ever any doubt that we are right and the AGs are out to lunch, look who’s at the head of the parade of Hollywood protesters: Jane Fonda, a.k.a. Hanoi Jane.

Sixty years after her infamous stand of support for the Viet Cong guerillas (which she has at least apologized for), she’s been a busy lady of late at the “No Kings” rally, climate change protests, and taking to the streets for “indigenous sovereignty,” which we guess means she wants to turn the western states back over to the indians.

“Today,” she declared in a statement, “thousands of artists, journalists, and everyday people refused to accept that CEOs who cozy up to the administration should decide what news and stories Americans have access to.”

What planet is she on? Just turn on your iphone Jane and you are bombarded with every imaginable source of news. Does Jane want to go back to the days when news pretty much arrived each night from one man: Walter Cronkite?
