Hollywood has thumbed its nose at middle-class America for many decades, and now they want plumbers, construction workers and taxi drivers to bail them out.

Many of the once-rich studios are going bankrupt or leaving Tinseltown, so the Hollywood brass want a taxpayer bailout. Unfortunately, President Trump has embraced a proposal for a federal tax credit of 15% to 25% to encourage the production of domestic film and TV projects.

Employment and production is down by nearly half. The number of on-location shoot days in LA has fallen from 37,000 in 2022 to under 20,000 in 2025, a drop of 46%. Production has shifted to locations where labor is cheaper and union rules less stringent.

Trump claims these tax credits will pay for themselves 10 times over. We doubt it.

Hollywood is being mugged by economic reality. They’re just now discovering that California’s highest in the nation income taxes, forced union work rules and a regulatory morass – is simply a lousy place to do business these days. That’s why Disney and NBCUniversal are increasingly filming outside of L.A.

The unions foolishly helped block the Paramount-Warner Brothers merger, which could have been a savior for Hollywood.  Now they want your tax dollars to survive.

Here’s a crazy idea to save movie studios in Hollywood: put aside woke politics for a while and try making family-friendly entertaining movies that people actually want to see.  That hasn’t happened in many years.
