A fascinating early analysis by political analyst Andy Laperriere of Piper Sandler on the race for the GOP nomination in 2028. We don’t necessarily agree with the conclusion, but his facts are correct and worrisome.
Vance Is Favorite To Win GOP Nomination
In the modern political era, every sitting vice president who has sought the nomination of his party has won it. JD Vance is widely expected to run for president in 2028 and should be considered the clear frontrunner to win the Republican nomination. For this and other reasons, Marco Rubio probably won’t run. Vance is out promoting his new book and going out of his way to say that he rejects the “abstract libertarian economics” that has been the GOP economic consensus for the past five decades.

This is his scary conclusion:
“IF VANCE IS THE GOP NOMINEE, EACH PARTY WILL LIKELY NOMINATE THE LEAST MARKET-FRIENDLY CANDIDATE THEIR PARTY HAS OFFERED THE VOTERS IN AT LEAST 50 YEARS.”
