Lina Kahn, the “woke” 33-year-old academic who is chair of the Federal Trade Commission, finally has a three to two Democratic majority on her side. So it’s Johnny bar the door for the coming progressive onslaught against American businesses. Here is a sample of the FTC’s “to-do list”:
- A potential antitrust suit against Amazon.
- A crackdown on middlemen blamed for increasing pharmaceutical prices — while taking steps to protect consumer privacy.
- Investigating and potentially blocking Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter.
- Severe new limitations on mergers and acquisitions for tech companies.
We’ve argued that these kind of hyperactive rule-making activities at the FTC that played in nearly wrecking parts of the U.S. economy in the 1970s. Tim Muris has just co-authored a piece in the Wall Street Journal issuing the same warnings.
