You’ve got to love liberals. They run around with their ears and eyes glued to their cell phones, but they oppose the data centers we need to make all those apps work.
Now we have blue state progressives leading the populist charge to block data center construction in states such as Virginia, California and New York. Maine is on the verge of banning any new major data center construction for almost two years.
“Maine is the canary in the coal mine,” says Anirban Basu, chief economist for the Associated Builders and Contractors. “Maine will be the first of many states to have such moratoria.”
Even some Red States are in danger of joining the parade. Ohio activists are collecting signatures for a November ballot measure that would block construction of large data centers.
And, as we reported last week, the legislative Luddite couple of Bernie Sanders in the Senate and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez unveiled a bill in Congress to pause data-center construction nationwide.
Sounds like the left wants to create a new “digital divide” in America – some states – mostly red – will have data centers and reliable/affordable electricity costs and blue states will be on mute and literally in the dark.
