The average gas price in California is now up to $6.50 a gallon and one of our readers in Los Angeles area sent us this photo from a neighborhood service station.  So the “tax” for living in the Golden State is now about $2 a gallon.

Kudos to Chevron for pointing out to motorists why they are paying so much.
