In every area of the economy the U.S. is blowing away Europe.  We’ve noted that even residents of Mississippi and West Virginia – two of our poorest states – have higher living standards today than the average European.

So you’d have to be a nitwit to want the American economy to be more like Europe’s. After all: why chase the losers?

The results of a new Scott Rasmussen poll are revealing and disturbing. He found in a survey of 1000 registered voters that well more than half of Democratic voters think the US should be more like Europe. Only 18% of Republicans believe this – but a 44% plurality of independents do.
