Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren held a big presser this week demanding that Trump “stand up to Xi” by banning all exports of US microchips to China. This would mean killing a multi-billion dollar export business and ceding the chip market to Huawei and other Chinese companies. How does that help us in the race to establish global AI standards and dominate the global market?

Biden already tried an export ban – and it backfired spectacularly.  America surrendered market share.

We advise Trump to do exactly the opposite: press Chairman Xi to lift his import ban on US chips so that NVIDIA, AMD, and back-from-the-dead Intel can get back into Chinese data centers. If Beijing agrees to open its markets, we should get rich by flooding them.

The one exception should be military-related technologies.
