Wait someone may have tried to assassinate a Supreme Court Justice and it’s the SIXTEENTH story on the New York Times website yesterday. Even the headline on the story was tame: “Armed Man Is Arrested Near Home of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.” One wonders how bold the headline would be if someone attempted to kill Justice Sotomayor.

Even worse was Politico, which covered the story with a sneering headline that “Republicans pounce” to capitalize on the incident by urging greater protection of the nine robed justices. Somehow, even protecting Supreme Court members is a hotly contested political issue.
