Liberals have been assuring everyone that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, is a moderate choice. But Mitch McConnell revealed that, during his meeting with her, she refused to say if she supports packing the Supreme Court by expanding the number of justices.
Both the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and retiring Justice Stephen Breyer said packing the court would make it a political court. Ginsburg warned that “if anything would make the court appear partisan, it would be that.”
During her Senate confirmation hearings, Judge Jackson should be asked if she shares Justice Breyer’s belief that court-packing would politicize the highest court.
Beyond that, it’s time to take attempts to pack the court off the table. The “Keep Nine” Amendment would take away the power of Congress to manipulate the size of the Court. It is backed by more than 200 Members of Congress and has 3 to 1 support in polls.
