Even In New York, Amazon Workers Nix Union

We loved this headline from the New York Post:

More than 60% of the Amazon warehouse workers voted thumbs down on the union representation. Just weeks earlier, workers at a nearby Amazon facility had voted for the union – the Amazon Labor Union. That earlier vote was celebrated as the start of a pro-union trend, which makes this latest rejection a major setback for union bosses.

Why did the workers vote no? Even the liberal NY Times admitted that “Few of the union’s top officials and organizers work at the warehouse.” The workers seemed to understand that the people who would get rich from this union, would be the organizers and big labor bosses, not the rank and file members.

Expect more of these fights to come. With the pro-union Biden in the White House, the number of union filings are up 60% from the number under Trump.
