For many years vote fraud was treated as a victimless crime with at most a slap on the wrist. That’s odd because what could be a bigger “threat to Democracy” than stealing votes.

So it’s very good news that the Trump Justice Department has made 160 arrests on election fraud charges since late last year, and is investigating 1,600 active cases.

The fact that Justice is no longer ignoring voter fraud will send a powerful deterrent message in this fall’s elections. “Letting people know that someone is watching can make a big difference in how much fraud is attempted,” former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft says. Amen.

Stealing even a few votes is a way to steal elections. The Public Interest Legal Foundation found 1,376 elections ended in a tie since the mid-1990s, while another 533 were decided by a single vote.
