The United States has the world’s most productive fishermen and the largest and longest bountiful coast line of any country on the Atlantic Ocean.

Yet thanks to one of the worst trade deals ever -The International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) – the U.S. is assigned a “quota” allowing U.S. fishermen to spear less than 5% of the Atlantic tuna and swordfish catch.

As a consequence, about 90% of U.S. seafood comes from imports, with a seafood trade deficit exceeding $20 billion.

To borrow a phrase from Donald Trump: We’re letting the Europeans eat our lunch, er, our fish.
