A couple months ago, we reported that a disturbingly high number of young adults were living with their parents. Some readers and even some of your HOTLINE editors were skeptical of the data, but the Federal Reserve Survey of Household Economics and Decisionmaking has even more disturbing numbers based on a slightly younger population.

No wonder marriage rates are plummeting. Not to sound very old-fashioned and sexist, but from the very beginning of the human species, the biological role of the male is to put food on the table and protect the wife and the kids in the cave from the sabre-toothed tiger. How can a 25-year old man do that when he’s still hanging out in his parents’ basement playing Donkey Kong, or whatever they play these days. That’s not exactly marriage material.

One problem is that now it’s the role of the government to provide and do the hunting.

The more socialist policies are implemented the more likely it is that young people will continue to wake up in their parents’ basement.

It’s the ultimate vicious cycle.
