Our friends at the Illinois Policy Institute broke the story that CTU president Stacy Davis Gates – the leading lobbyist for killing the Illinois “Invest in Kids” scholarship program and kicking thousands of poor kids out of private schools – claims a dubious homestead deduction on a house she owns in Indiana.
We’re not surprised that Gates is either lying about where she lives or is a hypocrite on “fair share” taxes, considering she sends her son to a private school and is paying her taxes in another state.
She’s also the loudest voice against school choice in the city of Chicago. What’s sad is that on education reform, Chicago and Illinois lawmakers listen to her, not the city’s parents (shown below).
