We’ve seen a lot of corruption and scandals in Ivy League colleges of late but this latest revelation takes the trophy:

The Dartmouth student newspaper reported that Santiago Schnell, the school’s provost and No. 2 academic official, has written nine op-eds and academic papers so far this year. All of them were flagged as being 100% written by AI.

Dartmouth’s Academic Honor Policy treats the use of generated AI use as cheating and plagiarism. But Schnell even used AI to write a Washington Post op-ed entitled “Universities Are Fighting AI Cheating.”

When the student newspaper asked him about it, his email response was 100% AI-written.  Schnell’s AI-assisted explanation was that he only used AI for “language refinement, copyediting, improving clarity and organization and making writing processes more efficient.” Well, what else is there?
