There are two major, imminent threats to our Constitution and our protection of the rights of the minority.

One comes from the left and the other from the right.

The left wants to rig the Supreme Court by adding four or more justices in a purely partisan way.  So much for justice being blind.

The right wants to end the filibuster in the Senate – which requires 60 votes to pass a law. This is a vital protection against mob rule. If Republicans were to succeed in changing this rule making it easier for the majority to pass tyrannical laws, they would very soon come to regret it. Think Medicare For All, a law that would override state right to work rules, and a wealth tax.

So Democratic and Republican leaders should come together and announce a deal: Republicans (and Democrats) pledge never to end the filibuster and the Democrats (and Republicans) promise never to rig the Supreme Court.
