It has now been well over a year since fires ravaged homes in the Palisades and nearby areas of Los Angeles County, so we took a look at the county’s handy dashboard to see how much of the supposedly expedited recovery has taken place.

As of February 23, 2026, of the 6,571 homes destroyed by the Palisades Fire in unincorporated Los Angeles County, a total of 13 homes have been rebuilt. (The LA City portion of the Palisades had a similar number of homes destroyed and may be moving even slower.) Good thing they expedited permitting!
