Recent primary election results show that progressive Democrats continue to purge their party of any moderate influence that could detract from their far-left priorities.
In Pennsylvania, “Bernie Bro” Lt. Governor John Fetterman won all 67 counties in Tuesday’s Senate primary over moderate Democrat Conor Lamb. He will face either Dr. Mehmet Oz or Dave McCormick after the GOP primary goes through a recount.
Also in Pennsylvania, community organizer Summer Lee (a proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America) appears to have defeated a moderate candidate for a vacant Pittsburgh seat.
Democrats were also able to purge Democratic Congressman Kurt Schrader in a primary for a suburban seat near Portland. His sin was that he opposed Biden’s prescription drug plan and he dared vote against his first stimulus bill. Progressive Jamie McLeod-Skinner won the nomination. But the district leans only slightly Democratic and former Mayor Lori Chavez-Deremer will make a strong Republican candidate.
Democrats in South Texas have also caught the “woke” disease. Progressive Jessica Cisneros is challenging moderate Rep Henry Cuellar. Cisneros opposes fossil fuel development (IN TEXAS!!) and opposes tighter border controls.
Republicans have some of their own problems with crazy candidates, but the further the democrats purify their party of centrists, the more likely it is that we will see a GOP landslide in November.
