The economy and affordability are still issues one and two for American families. The Trump Big Beautiful Bill has helped a lot by saving the average family nearly $3,000 on their tax bill this year and supercharging investment.

More is needed before the midterm elections. The portion of taxes on capital gains that is merely due to inflation is bad economics and unfair. Get rid of the 23.8% inflation tax on cap gains, or at least on housing. This will raise revenue and boost the economy.

Speaker Mike Johnson wants to go big and bold. But the White House has put out the word that they want a “skinny” bill that simply provides more war funding and farm relief. They also want – as we all do – the Save America Act, a voter ID bill that Senate Democrats will almost certainly strip out of the legislation on a point of order.

Where’s the economic boost? Given the day to day uncertainty about Iran and oil prices, the economy still needs a jolt. If Democrats vote against that, let them take the blame.

The best defense is a good offense. If you’re not controlling the narrative, Mr. President, they will.
