The East Palestine train crash a year ago is a reminder of yet another crisis that Joe Biden flunked. Here we are a year later and Biden still hasn’t shown up. (Sounds like Democrats have given up on Ohio.) His Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg – the man who rides his bike partially to his office in DC for the cameramen – used the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the derailment to compare railroad executives to robber barons (“fewer mustaches, fewer beards, just as much power”) and promises a regulatory crackdown.
It was a low blow. The rail industry responded with a letter reminding Pete that the Biden administration’s own data shows rail is one of the SAFEST industries in America. Shouldn’t our Transportation Secretary know that?
