NY Governor Hochul has killed data center construction in the Empire State. Instead she wants to pave the state over with sprawling solar farms.

But data centers require about one-tenth as large a concrete footprint on the land than do solar farms, which could industrialize up to 11,000 acres of USDA-certified prime farmland, according to an analysis by the Solar Energy Industries Association. That would be the land area equivalent of Paris, France.

A New York Post investigation reports these solar projects are “wildly unpopular” in upstate rural New York because they would “override local control” in rural ” communities.”  The chart below compares the land use of various energy projects. Gee! We wonder which is best for the environment.
