Our “Just when I think you couldn’t possibly be any dumber” Award Winner: Kathy Hochul

NY Governor Hochul has killed data center construction in the Empire State. Instead she wants to pave the state over with sprawling solar farms.

But data centers require about one-tenth as large a concrete footprint on the land than do solar farms, which could industrialize up to 11,000 acres of USDA-certified prime farmland, according to an analysis by the Solar Energy Industries Association. That would be the land area equivalent of Paris, France.

New York Post investigation reports these solar projects are “wildly unpopular” in upstate rural New York because they would “override local control” in rural ” communities.”  The chart below compares the land use of various energy projects. Gee! We wonder which is best for the environment.
