This 1909 warning against a federal income tax from The New York Times editorial board, of all places, could not have more prescient and relevant to today:

“When men once get the habit of helping themselves to the property of others they are not easily cured of it.”

We now have at least six blue states and dozens of members of Congress who want new confiscatory wealth taxes.  Why don’t we just call it what it is?  Legalized theft.
