Add Providence to the list of big blue cities to go socialist. This largest city in Rhode Island held a Democratic primary for mayor this month. The moderate incumbent Brett Smiley lost to David Morales, who like Zohran Mamdani, was an inexperienced state legislator and a Democratic Socialist. The 27-year-old Morales is a shoo-in this fall against a hapless Republican.

The new mayor will have carte blanche to impose his rent control and tax hike proposals since Democratic Socialists swept every City Council race. Watch the city slowly sink into the decay of other rent-controlled cities.

Sad to see yet another big blue American city belly flop into the deep end.
