The Bad News Bears

The Indiana Bears?

Really!!! What’s next? The Yankees leaving Yankee Stadium for New Hampshire?

Have Chicago and the state of Illinois fallen so low they can’t even keep the monsters of the midway in the Windy City or even within the borders of the state of Illinois?

As you’ve probably heard, Indiana lawmakers are ready to build a new glitzy stadium in Hammond, Indiana, which is about 20 to 25 miles south of downtown Chicago.

There is nothing that unifies the city culturally and economically more than the Bears.

So sad. The combination of JB Prizker as governor and Mayor Brandon Johnson with their blue-state, blue-city wrecking ball agenda of high property taxes, anti-business regulations, rising crime have finally turned this once-iconic city nicknamed the “city that works” into the economic/business version of a Roach Motel.

We’re not for subsidies, but the Bears are a massive revenue generator for the entire city – the restaurants, the hotels, the bars, the stores, etc.  If they move to Indiana, for Chicagoans they might as well be in Siberia. Anyone up for an hour and a half Sunday afternoon drive through lovely Gary, Indiana?

This can’t happen. It shouldn’t happpen. We’re betting high odds that the NFL owners WON’T let it happen. The value and lure of the entire NFL will take a hit. After all, this is the franchise that for nearly 100 years has “thrilled the nation with its T formation.”

So Bear down and keep this franchise in downtown Chicago.
