The takeover of the Democratic Party by socialists has momentum. Following wins for Washington D.C. mayor and three New York City congressional primaries, a Democratic Socialists of America member named Melat Kiros just won a primary over 30 year Democratic incumbent Diana DeGette in a district that includes Denver.
Watch Kiros, a graduate student who is being dubbed AOC of the West. She is attractive and 29 years old, the same age AOC was when she won her historic primary in 2018. Kiros is a former barista. AOC was a former bartender. The Left holds auditions to produce such “central casting” candidates that attract young, progressive voters and volunteers.
If anything, Kiros is more radical than AOC. On economics, she supports a litany of new big-budget entitlements with a topical call for a moratorium on data center construction. “When we’re talking about the threat of AI, I think a lot of folks think about it as like the apocalypse of the robots,” she says. “It’s actually a lot worse, just in that it gets absorbed into our military industrial complex.”
A socialist also won the Congressional primary in another district next to Kiros’s. Manny Rutinel is a state legislator and animal rights activist who wants to shut down oil and gas development and is a close ally of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
To round out the progressive victories, Democratic U.S. Senator Michael Bennet lost his effort to become Colorado’s next governor to Phil Weiser, the state’s activist Attorney General.
Beware! The socialists have all the momentum in the Democratic Party today, and it’s coming to your state soon.
Scary.
