Remember the myth that Democrats were going to turn Texas blue?
Certainly not in South Texas where huge parts of the heavily Hispanic Rio Grande Valley have never voted for the GOP went for Donald Trump and Republican Monica De La Cruz-Hernandez came within a few votes of being elected to Congress.
In June, McAllen, a city of 150,000 that is 85% Hispanic elected a Republican mayor.
Then yesterday, Democratic State Rep. Ryan Guillen of Rio Grande City switched parties.

Democrats should be listening to him: “Friends, something is happening in South Texas, and many of us are waking up to the fact that the values of those in Washington, D.C., are not our values, not the values of most Texans,” Guillen said. “The ideology of defunding the police, of destroying the oil and gas industry and the chaos at our border is disastrous for those of us who live here in South Texas.”
Things are so bad in Texas that leftist Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke – remember him? – may be the Democratic nominee for governor.
