At the HOTLINE, we’ve reported on a lot of population trends involving people and businesses fleeing high-tax and heavily-regulated blue states for red states.

Could interstate migration turn tiny New Hampshire from a purple state to a red state?  For several decades Massachusetts liberals flooded into NH to escape income taxes (NH imposes no state income tax), and then they voted liberal.

But this trend may be shifting. There are clear signs that refugees fleeing Blue New England states are shifting the state’s politics to the right.  Republicans now control both the governorship and both houses of the state legislature.

A new University of New Hampshire poll finds that some 47% of self-identified progressives are very or somewhat likely to leave the state in the next five years. At the same time, nearly nine out of ten libertarians say they aren’t going anywhere.

Politically, it wouldn’t take much of a shift in November for Republicans to capture the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Jeanne Shaheen and a now vacant U.S. House seat.  Let’s hope more tax refugees move to New Hampshire.
