Two Dem Senators Want to Eliminate Middle Class Income Taxes – The Left Goes Crazy

Here’s more evidence that when the left shouts “tax the rich,” they mean tax EVERYONE who earns a paycheck.  Here’s the headline from the liberal Huffington Post:

Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey would exempt from income taxes the first $75,000 earned for a married couple.  Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland followed with a plan that would exempt up to $92,000.

These proposals would eliminate income taxes for about half of Americans. This would also liberate half of Americans from IRS tyranny and could be a good way to deal with middle class “affordability” issues.

But Liberals are going bonkers over this tax cut apostasy.

In response to the plan, Bobby Kogan, director of federal budget policy at the Center for American Progress complained of the plan: “The Democratic Party is confused about what it wants.”  Apparently, that’s NOT lower taxes.

Will Raderman, a senior policy adviser at the liberal Searchlight Institute grumbled:

“We’ve got a lot of problems that we’d like to solve in the country, and it doesn’t feel appropriate to treat taxes as one of those major problems…  We actually want to maintain a robust tax base [that taxes everyone] and then use any revenue to actually address the problems head-on that we see.”

He doesn’t see over-taxation as a problem.

“This is not a progressive tax plan,” Corey Husak, a tax policy expert with the Center for American Progress, told HuffPost in an interview.

Senator Booker replied that his tax plan “is equitable in the sense that we are making sure that working people get to keep more of their money.”

Most normal people like that idea. Too bad progressives aren’t normal.
