And while we are on the subject of Omicron, we raised both eyebrows when we heard of Biden’s travel ban on nations in Africa including South Africa. This may make sense as a “precautionary health and safety measure,” as Biden calls it, although this strain is probably already global.
But we can’t help noting that when President Trump called for travel bans from nations with Covid outbreaks back in the early months of the pandemic, he was jeered and ridiculed as “racist.” Here was a tweet from then candidate Joe Biden:
Trump further diminished the U.S. in the eyes of the world by expanding his travel ban. This new “African Ban,” is designed to make it harder for black and brown people to immigrate to the United States. It’s a disgrace, and we cannot let him succeed. https://t.co/oePD5eSAWY

And here is a Tweet from Kamala Harris at about the same time.
Trump’s extended un-American travel ban undermines our nation’s core values. It is clearly driven by hate, not security. https://t.co/x0fHFKRHWo

And to complete the unholy trinity, here is the Tweet from Nancy Pelosi denouncing Trump:
The Trump Admin’s expansion of its un-American travel ban is a threat to our security, our values and the rule of law. Barring more than 350 million people from predominantly African countries from traveling to the US, this rule is discrimination disguised as policy.

Ah, Democrats and double standards. They seem to go hand in glove, don’t they?
