New York City’s new mayor was sworn into office yesterday and made this splashy declaration in his inaugural speech:
We’re not sure what he means by that, but hopefully not the “collectivism” that led to soup kitchen/bread lines during the Great Depression:
Just hours after being sworn in, Mamdani appointed Kamar Samuels to run the city’s public schools. His claim to fame has been to erode Gifted & Talented programs in the Upper West Side district where he has been superintendent since 2019.
Samuels has also spent two decades prioritizing forced “racial diversity” by merging schools.
Ominously, one of his biggest fans is Nikole Hannah-Jones, The New York Times journalist who created the infamous 1619 Project, which incorrectly claims that slavery represents the very essence of America’s history. She praised the appointment of Samuels as “outstanding news for those who still care about school integration and equality.
We agree with one big thing that Mayor Mamdani said in his inaugural speech.
He noted that many people across the country “want to know if the Left can govern. We will set an example for the world.”
Don’t be surprised if this socialist experiment turns out to be the triumph of hope over experience – in Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles and every other major city where it’s being tried.
