We doubt it. But with the implosion of disgraced Democratic frontrunner Eric Swalwell, Steyer is in first place with 21% in the latest poll, and Republican Steve Hilton in second with 18%.

Steyer has just been endorsed by the powerful California Association of Teachers, who switched from Swalwell, in recognition of his slavish support for their agenda and opposition to school choice.

It’s really no surprise. Steyer is the latest in a long line of California Democrats opposed to school choice for everyone else, even as they send their own children to elite private schools.

We expect at least a semi-same Democrat to get traction, perhaps San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan, who has tech industry backing. It’s hard to believe that California could do worse than Gavin Newsom, but they may well pull it off.
