| 1) Small Businesses Still Love Trump We’ve reported on these pages that the small business optimism level as measured by NFIB hit its highest level EVER in November 2016 weeks after Trump was elected president. Now come full circle, four years later and the last NFIB report BEFORE the 2020 election (released this week), finds that the small biz confidence is back near that historic high. The men and women who run our 30 million small and medium-sized businesses love the Trump hands off agenda – including lower taxes, a light touch of regulation, and holding unions at bay. We find it amazing that eight months into a pandemic that flattened the economy for many months, small businesses see a light at the end of the tunnel. We won’t be surprised if small biz optimism takes a tumble in the next report now that Biden appears to be the president-elect.  |
