Travel bans are back being in 56 nations across the globe, Europe has locked down again with business closures and curfews, and Greece recently imposed a mandatory nationwide vaccine requirement for those over the age of 65 with hefty fines for violators.
You could have knocked us over with a feather when we read this statement from the World Health Organization’s Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus:
“I well understand the concern of all countries to protect their citizens against a variant that we don’t yet fully understand. But I am equally concerned that several member states are introducing blunt, blanket measures that are not evidence-based or effective on their own, and which will only worsen inequities.”
We’ve only been saying this for 20 months.
