Don’t say you weren’t warned. The same people who catastrophically closed schools for over a year in blue America – and never admitted despite the irrefutable evidence that the policy was devastating to children – are of course gearing up to do it again.

Already, Stanford University has announced it will begin its winter quarter with two weeks of online instruction. In Maryland, one of the largest school districts, Prince Georges County is planning on shutting after the holiday break. Meanwhile, the teacher unions are declaring the new omicron variant will likely mean that schools can’t reopen in January in many other states.
In Britain, scores of schools and colleges have closed early for Christmas, in defiance of national government rules. The Guardian newspaper reports “school leaders in England are preparing for an extended switch to online learning in January, with many ensuring that pupils take laptops and textbooks home for the holidays.”
