We’ve said it many times in the last year: This is still a center-right country, and progressives are a tiny, though, vocal outlier minority. Biden and the Democrats in Congress didn’t seem to get this, and they have a proposed a “transformational agenda that voters didn’t sign up for and many find abhorrent.
In a new Gallup poll with a huge sample of 12,000 adults, the public’s voter preferences have shifted from a nine-point Democratic advantage when Biden took office a year ago to a five-point GOP edge. Biden’s embrace of the radical left has led to a lot of buyer’s remorse (he has an approval number of only 25% to 30% among independents now).
Gallup found that in the first quarter of 2021, 49% of U.S. adults identified as Democrats or leaned Democratic, while 40% identified as Republicans or leaned Republican. In the fourth quarter, 42% were Democrats and Democratic leaners, and 47% were Republicans and Republican leaners.
