CNN may be returning to some its roots when it was the first nationwide cable news network under Ted Turner. Lately, it’s been a left-wing mouthpiece and its viewership has plunged.
John Malone, a major stakeholder in CNN’s new owner Warner Bros. Discovery, appeared on CNBC and was asked about why CNN’s viewership had plunged (to one-third the audience of Fox News) as it moved to the hard left:
“I would like to see CNN evolve back to the kind of journalism that it started with, and actually have journalists, which would be unique and refreshing,” Malone said.
It’s a positive sign that the programming director at CNN, Trump hater Jeff Zucker was dumped. Zucker was the brainchild of the $300 million streaming video plaything CNN+ which went bust in a hurry. Zucker actually thought Americans who were fleeing from CNN’s boring and biased FREE content would pay to watch CNN. Brilliant!
Axios reports that Chris Licht, CNN’s new boss, threatened that anchors who are unable to “adjust to a less partisan tone and strategy” could be removed from their posts. Licht says correctly that “too many people have lost trust in news media.” He wants the network to be “truth-tellers, focused on informing, not alarming our viewers.”
This is promising but we won’t believe there is any sea change as long as hosts like Don Lemon are spouting their leftist ideas every night.
