Sam Bankman-Fried, the con artist who peddled “effective altruism” while looting customer funds at the hedge fund he ran, was convicted last night of seven counts carrying a prison sentence of up to 110 years.

He was found guilty of wire fraud on customers of FTX, conspiracy to commit wire fraud on customers of FTX, wire fraud on Alameda Research lenders, conspiracy to commit wire fraud on lenders to Alameda Research, conspiracy to commit securities fraud on investors in FTX, conspiracy to commit commodities fraud on customers of FTX, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Bankman-Fried, whose crimes cost victims $10 billion, will go down as one of the biggest fraudsters in history after his company stole their money and used it to fund his lavish lifestyle and political donations.

Bankman-Fried was reportedly the number two donor to Democratic candidates last election cycle to the tune of $37 million — second only to George Soros. Republicans also got a sliver of the campaign loot.

What is it about Democrats that they always seem to rake in millions from fraudsters and perverts – from Harvey Weinstein, to Bernie Madoff, to now Bankman-Fried. Remember when Dems railed against the corruptive influence of big donors in politics?

So now, will Democrats give back every penny of the pay-to-play fraud money they collected in campaign contributions? Hmmm? We doubt it!
