Coffee, Tea, or Tennessee

We reported yesterday that Starbucks founder and billionaire Howard Schultz is hightailing it out of Seattle and relocating to Florida – just ahead of Washington State’s new 9.9% millionaire tax that’s racing through the state legislature.

What we neglected to report is that Starbucks is moving some of its operations out of Seattle to… Nashville.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee touted the move as part of a trend we at HOTLINE have been writing about since we began publishing:

“Starbucks, In-N-Out, Oracle, XAI, Ford, Orano, companies from around the world, companies from around America because they’ve figured out that the business environment is here. Their culture is what they want for their people and the opportunity exists for them to be more successful in a state like ours than it might be in other states across the country.”

Did we mention Tennessee has no income tax? We will bet anyone a dime to a dollar that if the income tax in Washington becomes law, within five years all of Starbucks will be moving to Music City.
