After they abolish the Supreme Court and prisons, the Democratic Socialists want to do away with the Senate: “the world’s most deliberative body.” They think it is a “danger to democracy” because every state regardless of size gets two senators.
To the left this is one of those annoying checks and balances inserted into the Constitution by our Founding Fathers. It is the hallmark of our representative form of government, but they favor mob rule.
We can’t help noting the irony that if the progressives had their way and there were no Senate, then the Republican majority in the House would forthwith enact work-for-welfare reforms, an end to taxing capital gains due to inflation, and passing the voter ID act – all of which would be triumphantly signed into law next week by President Trump.
The lesson: be careful what you wish for.
